Uchuu Senkan Yamato Episode 10
宇宙戦艦ヤマト Ep. 10 (TV, Anime)

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

With Yamato having left the solar system, Earth Defense force sends a message to Captain Okita that moral on Earth is failing because of the belief that Yamato will never return. As such, Okita authorizes the crew to each have a 5-minute call home while the ship is still in range to improve moral both of the people on Earth and on Yamato. Susumu has no family to contact on Earth and so is depressed and takes it out on some of the crew. Okita also has no family and so inspects the ship. In the end, Okita has Susumu come to his ready room where they share a bottle of sake and say goodbye to Earth.

Thoughts/Review:

Nothing much to say here as this episode was done to save money. I did get a chuckle out of Yuki’s mother’s plans to arrange several omiai (marriage interviews) and her panic when she thought that Yuki might be hooking up with the much older (middle aged) Chief Tokugawa. Also, I learned that Yuki isn’t the only chick on the ship as another one showed up briefly. However, Yuki is still filling the role of “Whenever we need a babe to do something, lets get Yuki to do it.” That’s why she’s sometimes a coffee serving “wench” at times in addition to being a bridge officer. I bet she does her nurse duties again during the course of this series.
